Øresund Bridge (Øresund) is a unique passage connecting the Danish capital Copenhagen with the Swedish city of Malmo. The bridge stretches for about 8 km and gradually passes into an underwater tunnel about 4 km long. The project was developed by the Danish architect J. Rotn and officially opened on July 1, 2000. The construction of the bridge-tunnel began in 1995, construction was completed in August 1999.
At the official opening ceremony of the passage, the Crown Prince of Denmark Frederick and the Crown Princess of Sweden Victoria symbolically met in the middle of the bridge to mark its completion and thus even greater unity of the two Scandinavian peoples. The bridge also served as both as a symbol of the unity of Sweden and the rest of Europe at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013.
